Being present in life, even to the things and people we enjoy, can be challenging. Our busy minds distract us, constantly taking us away from the here and now. And, being present to ourselves and others with kindness and openness, can be even more challenging. Our life experiences, especially the negative ones, cause many of us to be protective, wary, and judgmental.
Enter Loving Kindness meditation, also known as Metta. Metta is the practice of opening our hearts; of connecting with our innate capacity to love openly and unconditionally. Metta meditations guide us to relate to ourselves and others with kindness and compassion, even in difficult circumstances or with difficult people.
This women’s only retreat will begin Saturday evening, from 7-9pm, and resume Sunday, when we will meet from 9-11:30am. In the evening, with dusk as our backdrop, Shayna will guide us in practicing a variety of meditation techniques. We will continue our practice the next morning by focusing our awareness on lovingkindness towards ourselves and others. The retreat will be held at my home though you will sleep at your own.
Though meditating is a private, inward experience, it is energized and deepened when shared in community. Whether you are brand new to meditation or a long-time practitioner, it will be an empowering experience.
This in-person event is limited to the first 10 women to register. Contact Shayna directly if you are interested in attending virtually).
